Keeping Up With The Hawks
The Hawks returned from Waco, Texas this past weekend from a very succesful NCEA scrimmage against Baylor, Delaware State, and New Mexico State. Seniors Jamie Donovan, Kitty Sarosy, Kelsey Kleinert were joined by Juniors Ali Drost and Jackie Yeager.
The NCEA format has a rider from each team go head to head on the same horse, to achieve the best score possible on the horse. This is a great opportunity for our riders to test their skills. They participated in a flat test and an equitation jumping round against each school. The scores were high and in many cases earned the team a point.
The Hawks brought along a cheering section……….
To help celebrate their success!
Back on the home front the Dressage team met this past week for dinner to plan their strategy for the year and welcome the new members. A few dressage riders and Lindsey Carmack will head to an open show the weekend of October 6th & 7th. This Sunday Coach Beth Akers is hosting the western team at her house for a cook out to prepare the team to take flight at their first show of the season at home on November 4th.
On the road again, the hunt seat team is at Ohio State this weekend for the first Regional Intercollegiate Hunt Seat Show of the season. The Hawks road hard and kept the pressure on with the cry of MU–ET filling the stands with each blue ribbon. Ohio State took the honor of High Point team with a score of 41 and the hawks came in second with 38 points. Senior Chelsea Campbell earned the title of Reserve High Point Rider with a great ride on the flat and over fences.
Hawks return to Ohio State tomorrow ready to fly high!
Let the battle cry be heard throughout the stands…. Who flys high? Hawks fly high Caw! Caw!
