The progress of Miami University Equestrian

Let There Be Grass

For the first time since the beginning of the renovation project, we have (drum roll please) GRASS!  The piles of dirt have all been leveled out, and the newly leveled space has been seeded.  Now we must wait for Mother Nature to take its course and hope for a little bit of rain to assist in the growing process.  It is amazing how much a little green can make a difference in the overall feel of the Equestrian Center.  While the piles of dirt were exciting as they symbolized progress and hinted at things to come, the grass represents a sense of finality.  We have almost made it to the end of Phase 1 and Phase 1B construction.  There are still a few more projects to complete, but the overall presence of the facility is truly starting to feel like home.  Here are a few pictures to show you what I mean:

In other exciting news, the second arena has been finished and christened with hoof prints.

Throughout the majority of Phase 1B construction, many of the horses have been enjoying a little rest and relaxation in the fields.  Soon, they will have one more pasture to call their own.  They’ve certainly earned it!
