The progress of Miami University Equestrian

First Home Show

Miami hosted their first show of the season on October 19th-20th.  This weekend also marked the first IHSA horse show held at the new facility.  The arena’s under drains were certainly put to the test on Saturday, as mother nature struck with a vengeance.  The pouring rain may have dampened the horses (and riders, and spectators) it didn’t dampen MUET spirit.  Riders and horses stuck it out even in less than ideal conditions, and MUET showed that they could soar in the rain.

Throughout the day, Miami rider after Miami riders captured blue ribbons.  Several Freshman and new riders stepped up the the plate and won their classes.  Congrats to Kayla Akers, Kaitlin Elliot, and Kylie Flemming.  MUET ended the day as High Point Team, by 15 points.  Way to go!

Sunday led to even more MUET success.  Jackie Yeagar dominated the Open Fences division, earning first place both days of competition.  MUET fledglings Terra Organisciak, Ashley Dowler, Rachel McConnell, Becky Koler, and Mallory Myers all earned first place as well.  Miami was Reserve High Point Team on Sunday and MUET is currently leading the region in overall points.

The horse show could not have been a success without the help and support of the entire equestrian team.  From schooling horses, to grooming, to cleaning stalls and polishing tack, the hard work and dedication of the team did not go unnoticed.  And of course, a huge thank you goes out to all the four legged Redhawks who worked hard throughout both Saturday and Sunday.  MU horses Thor, Irish, Ethan, Uno, and Caper participated in an IHSA horse show for the first time.  Congrats to everyone for a very successful weekend.
