Western Doubleheader

Halloween weekend proved anything but frightening for MUET’s Western Team.  They hosted the first western horse show of the season on Sunday, October 27th.  New and returning members worked together to put on this double header.

Several new riders shined in their first time competing in an Intercollegiate Horse Show.  Walk/Jog rider Anna McFarland earned second place in her first ever horse show.  A huge congrats to her on a job well done!

Other Redhawk successes include blue ribbons earned by Karen Faller, Kayla Kuhlman, Courtney Johnson, Megan Krug, and Danielle Hume.  Danielle also pointed out of the walk/jog division and into Intermediate I.  MUET earned Reserve Champion honors during both the morning and afternoon show.

In addition, several MUET alumni came back to Oxford to help out the team.  Liz Chasky and Jamie List helped school horses in the morning.  Mary Forrester also helped out throughout the day and rode in the IHSA alumni classes.

MUET would like to thank Megan Perry and her family for providing a delicious lunch and Brianna DeCamp for the goodie bags.  The Western Team would also like to send out a huge thanks to all the Hunt Seat and Dressage riders who helped make the western show run smoothly with all their hard work.

MUET rider, Courtney Johnson, summed up the spirit of the show by stating, “I am so proud to be a part of the MUET family, and the success of this show is a testament to just how hard working, tenacious, and and dedicated our students and horses are.”
