Last IHSA Horse Show of the Semester
The weather outside might be frightful, but the poise and confidence MU riders bring to the arena is nothing short of delightful. Miami had to alter some travel plans in order to attend the last IHSA horse show of the season. Miami was originally planning to leave with 6 horses on Friday December 6 night to make the trek to Westerville, Ohio, right outside of Columbus. However, Mother Nature had other plans as she pelted our area with unrelenting snow and ice throughout the day on Friday. The travel hiccup didn’t diminish MU spirits, however. The team decided to take it easy on Friday, staying in Oxford, and then travelling at the break of dawn for the show on Saturday.
Despite the early wake up call, these Redhawks were ready to soar, taking the competition in stride. Jessi Thorne, Liz Coaty, and Taylor Myers swept the Intermediate Flat Division, earning 1st through third place respectively. Rachel McConnell also had a great day, winning her Novice Fences class and placing second in her Novice Flat class. She tied for High Point Rider. Overall, Miami tied for High Point Team with an impressive 31 points. Congratulations! We are looking forward to continuing our excellent season next semester.
