Miami Takes Country Heir
This past weekend, Miami headed to Country Heir for their September II USEF National Show. Five Miami riders took the competition by storm, and brought home an impressive collection of ribbons.
Samantha Long rode Miami horse Varsity, known as Charlie in the barn, in the Intermediate Adult Hunter division. This was Charlie’s first time back in the ring after a several year break from horse showing. The two were a great pair, and earned Reserve Champion in the Intermediate Adult Hunter division! Congratulations Sam and Varsity!
Victoria Lawler rode her horse Tesoro in their debut with the Miami Equestrian Team. The duo rode beautifully in all the over fence classes to cinch the Champion win in the Baby Green Hunter division. Congratulations Victoria and Tesoro!
Senior Taylor Myers rode Miami’s S. F. Carco to a Reserve Champion win in the Low Children/Adults Jumper division. Taylor and Carco showed together this summer, and the two continued their success. Congratulations on a fantastic weekend!

Senior Kayla Akers rode Miami’s Thorwald to a Champion Win in the Child/Adult Jumper division. Kayla and Thor have been an unstoppable team for the past few summers, and the two did it again and swept the competition. Congratulations you too!
Freshman Shelby Friszell made her debut showing with Miami on her own horse Oh So Clever also known as Emmie in the barn, in the Intermediate Children’s Hunter division. Emmie and Shelby made consistent progress throughout the weekend over fences and were 7th in the under saddle and equitation on the flat. We can’t wait to see what you will do in your next four years with us!
It was an incredible weekend for the Miami, with 2 Champions and 2 Reserve Champions by the end! Congratulations to all who showed, and a special thank you to Mrs. Akers for taking all the awesome photos for the weekend.
