The progress of Miami University Equestrian

Western at Wilmington College

This past Sunday, the Miami Western Team traveled to their first show of the 2015 season. The team rolled out Saturday night with Sprinkles and Gambler in tow to travel to Wilmington College so they could school before the Double Header the next day.

The team packed in the van and ready to show!

Everyone rode beautifully, and together earned Team Reserve Champion in both the AM and PM shows.

Lauren Martyn Swept all of her classes and was High Point rider in the AM show.

Lauren Martyn won 1st Place in Open Reining, 1st place in Open Horsemanship, and was the AM Show High Point Rider!

New members Kelly Arnett, Erin Bosse, and Hunter Ries debuted in their first collegiate show with fantastic results. Kelly earned 3rd Place in the Advanced in both the AM and PM Show, and Erin Bosse won 1st Place in the AM Show.

Zach LeCompte earned 3rd Place in Intermediate.

The Western Team never fails to show their sense of humor when they travel. From the great hair debacle of 2015, which resulted in Courtney Johnson’s head under a hose in the wash rack while Shannon LaGrasse tried to rinse large amounts of hairspray out of her hair, to an eventful dinner at Bob Evans on Saturday evening involving some less than ideal service and some bunny ears, a bow and a tail, the team is always laughing when they are together.

The Western Team would like to thank Mrs. LeCompte for her delicious cookies and sandwiches she alway makes for their shows.

Congratulations to the Western Team on a successful and fun start to the show season!

Coach Beth Akers decided to join the show and was victorious in the stick-horse reining class.

Keep checking back in for show results and updates on what the team has been up to.
