Team Updates: Miami Hunt Seat Home Show and Team Bonding

This past weekend was a busy one for the Equestrian Team!

On Friday night, October 2nd, the Western and Dressage teams traveled to Lazer Kraze in Mason, Ohio, for a team bonding laser tag showdown. The teams played three rounds, and teamed up to defeat the opposing team of mostly 6 year olds during the first two battles. The last battle, the teams went head to head. After a close battle, the Western team came out victorious over the Dressage team. Everyone had a great time, and both teams hit Steak and Shake before heading back to Oxford.

On October 3rd and 4th, the Miami Hunt Seat Team hosted Zone 6 Region 2’s first IHSA Hunt Seat Shows of the year. Even through the rain and temperatures around 48 degrees on Saturday, everyone had a blast! The sun came out for Sunday, and we were treated to 75 degree weather and a beautiful day. There was great riding from everyone, and all of the Miami horses were wonderful. At this show every year, we support the IHSA Ride for the Ribbon, a program that raises money for Breast Cancer. All of the riders and coaches wear a pink ribbon and the  jump course sports a ride for the ribbon jump.  This year we raised over $400 for breast cancer through selling T-shirts and cookies made by team members.

Miami started the season strong, winning High Point Team Both days!

After a tie breaker, Victoria Lawler ended up being high point rider on Saturday, and Selena Haverlock was reserve high point rider. There were a lot of ribbons earned by the team overall, and some of the first place winners included: Selena Haverlock, Victoria Lawler, Allie Shea, Alex Roe, Haley Hacala, Julia Mason, Kelly O’Bryan, Mallory Myers, Caroline Hellman, Jessica Brobst, Katie Stuckwiesch, and Lauren Bakker

Congratulations to everyone who competed!

The team also ate tons of great food that MUET parents brought to the show. Parents travel from near and far to watch their riders compete and we always appreciate their support! We even had a special visit from Swoop, Miami’s mascot, to help cheer on the team! The show ran smoothly and was a complete success, and we couldn’t have done it without the hard work and dedication from the Hunt Seat team, our volunteers, and of course our awesome coaches! Thank’s to everyone for making it a successful weekend.

Next up will be Hunt Seat at Otterbein October 24-25,  Dressage at Otterbein, October 31st and November 1st, and the Western Home Show on November 1st.

Keep checking back in for updates on what the team has been up too, and like us on Facebook for more pictures and updates between blogs.
