The progress of Miami University Equestrian

Miami Hunt Seat at Otterbein

Last weekend, Miami Hunt Seat traveled to Otterbein University to compete in the second show of the season. The team had a great time both in the arena and out, with individuals taking home High Point Rider both days, and taking a trip to Equus Now for our sponsored team day.

Overall, the team won Reserve Champion on Saturday, and Third on Sunday.

Jill O’Bryan and Meaghan Murtaugh

Miami Freshman Victoria Lawler won both of her classes on Saturday for High Point Rider of the day, and President Abby Postle won both her classes on Sunday and  took home High Point Rider honors. Alex Roe, Taylor Myers, and Mallory Myers also took home firsts in their classes.

Miami always strives keeps things interesting, and this show was no exception! Rachel McConnell had everyone laughing when her ponytail fell out in the middle of her Sunday flat class, and Coach Heather Pinnick donned a sparkly pink bow for good luck!

Thanks to Equus Now! for their continual support of the Miami Equestrian Team.

On Saturday evening after the show, the team visited our sponsor Equus Now to stock up on some show clothes and accessories. Equus Now has been a supporter of the Miami Equestrian Team for many years, and we absolutely love working with them. We look forward to continuing our partnership for years to come.

A special thanks to the alumni who came to Alumni Reunion on Saturday evening. We had alumni spanning the 1980’s to 2014 joining us, and it was great to catch up and hear about the equestrian team over the years. We look forward to doing more events like this in the future, so stay updated by following the Miami University Equestrian Alumni on Facebook.

Another alumni, 2006 President Alex Ricca, visited Miami campus this past week as an honoree of the 18 of the Last 9 award. Every year, Miami honors 18 alumni of the last 9 years who have excelled in their professional careers and serving their communities. Alex took time our of her busy week to stop by the barn and pay some of her  friends a visit. We are so proud of our alumni and all the amazing things they go on to achieve.
