Hunt Seat at MSU and Western Regionals
MUET had another busy weekend, with Hunt Seat traveling to Morehead State University and the Western team traveling to Regionals held during the Arnold Classic at the Ohio Expo Center.
The Western Team sent 8 riders to regionals this weekend. All the riders rode beautifully and made Miami proud, and riders Lydia Yount and Sarah Laane will be continuing on to compete at Western Semi-Finals March 19th and 20th hosted by The University of Findlay. Overall, the Western team was the Reserve High Point Team in their region!
The Western Team would like to thank the parents for the dedication and support (and food). MUET parents always go above and beyond, and we can never thank them enough for all they do. Lydia’s dad, Bryan Yount, bought basically all of Panera for the team Sunday! Mrs. LaGassa, Mrs. Bosse and Mrs. Dodson also brought goodies for the team! Thank you all so much for making sure our riders are always supported and well-fed.
Our riders worked hard all year, and stepped up to the challenge at every show they competed at. We couldn’t be more proud of their ambition, talent and sportsmanship over the course of the regular season. Congratulations to all!
The Hunt Seat team packed up 6 horses and traveled to Morehead University to compete at the regions last horse show of the year. It was a combined show, with each school in the region bringing a few horses to contribute to the competition. The team was reserve high point on the Saturday and 3rd on the Sunday.
On Saturday, Samantha Ackley was reserve high point rider. Miami swept the competition, and the team took home a lot of blues, with Jill O’Bryan, Mallory Myers, Caroline Hurst, Abby Postle, Julia Mason, Emily Simanskis, Ashley Dowler, Laura Fitzgerald, Samantha Ackley, Jessica Brobst, Emma Alhalel, Alex Roe, Victoria Lawler, and Shelby Frieszell all winning first places!
Because this was a combined show, Miami brought 6 of our own horses. Buckle, Lexus, Cutter, Carco, Larry, and Pleadies all travelled with the team, and were well-behaved the entire weekend.
With the last show of the regular season finished, we officially have 12 people who qualified for regionals! Katie Schulze, Abby Postle, Tyler Miles, Emily Simanskis, Christina Romine, Kylie Fleming, Kelly O’Bryan, Ashley Dowler, Mallory Myers, Taylor Myers, Alex Roe, and Rachel McConnell will be traveling to Otterbein University this weekend to compete for the chance at Zones.
Congratulations to all who competed last weekend, and good luck to those moving on to Hunt Seat Regionals and Western Semi-Finals!
