The progress of Miami University Equestrian

MUET Gala and Alumni Day

Every year, the Miami University Equestrian Team hosts a Gala to celebrate our wonderful team and its members, both past and present. This year, the Gala will take place on Saturday, April 16th in the Armstrong Student Center on campus where guests will be served delicious food provided by Miami Catering.

The MUET Gala as it is now is a tradition that began 8 years ago, in 2008. Every year the Gala has grown, and this year over 150 riders, parents, and alumni will be in attendance. It is a night full of emotion, laughter, and memories as the team hears from graduating seniors on what MUET means to them, and how it has shaped their college careers.

During the event there will be a silent auction with gifts donated by team members and their families, a video reviewing the year we have had, and speeches by coaches and team members. We will also take this time to announce the winners of our annual scholarships.

The Gala is the Equestrian Teams biggest fundraiser of the year, and we have some very exciting items up for auction this year. We will also be selling apparel and be taking donations throughout the night.

If you would like to donate an item to the silent auction, please contact on of our team captains: Rachel McConnell at, Zach LeCompte at, or Spencer Clark at

On April 17th we turn our focus to our MUET Alumni. The Alumni will have a full day of events planned, including breakfast at the Armstrong Student Center, a riding showcase designed by the team to show off the our talented riders, the chance to ride some of our wonderful horses and tour our new facility, and a picnic and presentation by Miami’s Lori Cramer and Bob Cacchione, the founder of IHSA.

Lori received the UHSJA President’s Distinguished Achievement Award earlier this year and the USHJA annual meeting and will be honored again this weekend with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Lifetime Achievement Award. Lori will be the 23rd equestrian team coach to receive the award in the 49-year history of IHSA.
