IHSA National Finals
The week of May 2-8 Miami horses and riders made their way down to the Kentucky Horse Park to participate in the IHSA National Horse Show. Heather was on hand as one of the national horse show coordinators. She helped to gather the hunter seat horses that came in as well as sat on the hunter seat selection committee.
Miami hunt seat horses Charlie, Lexus, Carco, Pleiades, Butch, Toby and western horses Gambler and Tonka made their debuts at the National horse show. The location is beautiful and Miami volunteers were able to take the horses out on the cross country field where Rolex was held just the weekend prior.
On Thursday May 5 the horse show began, junior Mallory Myers competed in the Individual Novice Over fences class and junior Rachel McConnell competed in the Individual Intermediate on the Flat. Both riders had wonderful rides and made Miami proud.
Mallory rode Peia, a horse loaned by Savannah College of Art and Design to a 6th place finish.
Rachel competed on Amitelli, a horse loaned by Skimore College to the National Championship!
The Miami horses were also wonderful, Carco received the high score of the horse show over fences with an 89 in the first phase of the Cacchione Cup, Charlie won the Alumni on the flat as well as 4th in the Individual Novice Fences, Lexus won the Individual Novice on the flat and was third in the Individual Walk Trot Canter.
Lori Cramer was also honored with her director’s chair for her lifetime achievement award.
We had a wonderful week and are looking forward to spending 2017 at the Kentucky Horse Park. We hope more of you will join us as next year we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the IHSA!!!
