IHSA Nationals 2017

The hunt seat and western teams have just returned from the Intercollegiate National finals hosted at the Alltech Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.  We were fortunate this year the event was close to home and in such a wonderful venue to help us celebrate the 50th anniversary of the IHSA.  Miami also brought six hunt seat horses to compete at the show.

Thursday brought a great day of competition as Mallory Myers showed in the Intermediate on the flat placing 5th, riding Emory and Henry’s Ruben. Victoria Jenkins won the walk trot canter aboard Emory and Henry’s Donny.

The western team members also had a successful showing at Nationals: Lauren Martyn showed in the Open Horsemanship placing 7th, on Khody provided by Alfred University and Lydia Yount placed 9th in the Advanced Horsemanship riding Ricky Bobby provided by SUNY Cobleskill.

The students and horses enjoyed a great week of the beautiful scenery the horse park had to offer.  We even found time to celebrate Coach Heather Pinnick’s birthday!
